How can we improve outcomes for cancer patients?

There have been significant improvements in treatments and outcomes for many cancers over the last few decades. However, there remains a major unmet need for better and less toxic treatments.

In this Lightning Talk, speakers explained about new cancer pathways and highlighted examples where Newcastle discoveries have changed clinical practice worldwide.

Presenting at this event were:

• Professor Ruth Plummer, honorary consultant medical oncologist in Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Professor of Experimental Cancer Medicine, Newcastle University.
• Professor Steven Clifford, who directs the Newcastle University Centre for Cancer and is Professor of Molecular Paediatric Oncology.
