The NHIP Advanced Therapies Satellite is pleased to launch a series of seminars to highlight key topics and advances in translational and partnership working in Advanced Therapies research and delivery.
We will hear updates from colleagues about work in their area of specialty and encourage discussion and engagement around important local and national issues in this exciting and cutting-edge space.
Please join us for our first seminar on 19th July at 11:00am – 12:00 noon which will be given by Dr Cristiano Scottà (LinkedIn, ResearchGate), Translational Research Coordinator at Advanced Therapeutics & Experimental Medicine of Guys & St Thomas’s Biomedical Research Centre, “Peter Gorer” Dept. Immunobiology, King’s College London.
Regulatory T cells: from basic analysis to clinical application in inflammatory diseases
The talk will focus on Dr Scottà’s studies on the tolerogenic properties of regulatory T cells and the translation of the results into clinical application. It will be divided into three parts: the first part will show how ex vivo manipulation of regulatory T cells in cell therapy can improve their functional stability and capacity to target the correct tissue. In the second part, the focus will be on the crosstalk between regulatory T cells and other immune cells which identifies new therapeutic targets for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis and autoimmune disorders. The third part will explore the regulatory T cell heterogeneity with the characterisation of a cell subset involved in the control of skin immune homeostasis.
