This special Lightning Talk on International Women’s Day drew a fascinating discussion on whether cultural norms around menopause affect women’s experiences. The audience heard about  the process and the findings from a participatory project working with women in Newcastle, UK and Makerere, Uganda, and explored the range of experiences which women endured or enjoyed on their menopause journey.

Presenting at this event were:

  • Karen Ross, Professor of Gender and Media in the School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University.
  • Clare Armstrong, an art psychotherapist who works with a range of clients and is a freelance maker, artist and facilitator with Equal Arts, a leading creative ageing charity providing arts and creative activities with older people.
