New Academy Manager for NHIP
Wednesday October 12, 2022
We welcome Dr Amy Brown as Academy Manager for Newcastle Health Innovation Partners.
Amy, who joined NHIP at the beginning of October, will work alongside Academy Director, Professor Dave Jones OBE, and NHIP Chief Operating Officer, Hannah Powell, to develop and deliver the Academy’s vision and plan.
The Academy represents a flagship part of NHIP’s programme. It is a novel initiative to support academic career development for health and care professionals. Individuals from these backgrounds form an essential part of the research and education community and it is vital that we encourage and maintain involvement.
As the Academy Manager, Amy will play a critical role in making that happen by leading and developing vital relationships with key stakeholders in the partner organisations.
Commenting on Amy’s appointment, Prof Dave Jones said:
“We are delighted to welcome Amy to the NHIP Academy leadership team. Amy brings a wealth of experience in supporting talented people to secure funding and advance their programmes of research. She will be a real asset to our trainees and the Academy as a whole.”
Amy has a strong background in academia and research. Her most recent role was at Newcastle University, where she was Senior Research Funding Development Manager for Experimental Medicine.
Commenting on her appointment Amy said:
“I am really excited about the opportunity to join the NHIP Academy team and further develop the relationships between the NHIP Academy, the NHIP Partners and our health and care researchers. Research is a passion of mine, and I will champion all clinical academic career pathways and collaborative working. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the Academy community over the next few months and supporting their research ambitions.”
The Academy will enable NHIP to achieve its ambition to become a sector leader and the definitive programme in UK health and care academic careers development. Find out more about the NHIP Training Academy here.
