NHIP Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Mhairi Anderson as the new manager for Diagnostics NE (DxNE) and Therapeutics NE (TxNE).

We welcome Mhairi Anderson who has been appointed as manager for Diagnostics NE and Therapeutics NE. Dr Michael Wright, Deputy Medical Director of Newcastle Hospitals, said:

“We are delighted that Mhairi is joining the leadership team for Diagnostics NE and Therapeutics NE where she will have a pivotal role in the development and delivery of a refreshed strategy to promote our capabilities.  Mhairi will contribute valuable knowledge and experience of our environment, along with existing productive relationships with key stakeholders.”

Mhairi has spent the last 10 years working for Newcastle University in a Quality Assurance role, as the Tissue Governance Lead in the Newcastle Joint Research Office.  Prior to this, Mhairi spent a decade in Northumberland, working in multinational Pharmaceutical and Contract Research Organisations, leading international projects as a Study Director, and laboratory scientist.  Mhairi also brings experience from the skills sector, having supported regional skills academies and science ambassador programmes.

On taking up this new appointment Mhairi said:

“This is an incredibly exciting time to be living and working in the North East.  Our region already delivers world class clinical research, however under the prestige of the NHIP accreditation, we are now primed and ready to take this to the next level and develop ourselves as a leader in diagnostics and therapeutics, to underpin advances in precision medicine.

“It is my job to connect the dots between all our partners, to harness our joint capabilities, and explore new areas for innovation and collaboration.  I’m extremely passionate about the power of joint working, and what we can achieve together as a collective – but more so, I am immensely proud to represent the North East and realise our full potential. I can’t wait to get started.”
