NHIP Academy Know Your Funder event series

NHIP Academy is proud to introduce a new series of events where researchers can hear directly from funders about personal awards and fellowship schemes, including doctoral and advanced/post-doctoral fellowships.

The Know Your Funder series will see speakers give an overview of the different schemes available to health and care researchers on the career development pathway.

Each event will take in a ‘Zoom and in the room’ hybrid format to allow local networking and regional reach.

To kickstart the new series, NHIP Academy is delighted to host a visit from Professor Rachel Elliot, Professor of Health Economics at Manchester University and Chair of the HEE-NIHR Integrated Clinical and Practitioner Academic Fellowship (ACAF) Programme. Professor Elliot was the first fulltime critical care pharmacist in the UK. She has brought in £39 million funding in applied health economics research which has influenced health policy and practice in the UK and internationally, completed a Harkness Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and has authored two books and over 150 research publications.

The event will take place on 18 May 2023 in Ridley 2, 1.55, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4AA. In person registration to start at 11am followed by the hybrid presentation at 11:15am where Professor Elliot will give an overview of the ACAF programme, application process and what the panel look for in a successful application.

Lunch and informal networking will commence at 12pm – 1pm. There will be a limited number of 1:1 sessions available for researchers who would like the opportunity to discuss their current applications with Rachel.
