NIHR North East and North Cumbria Methodology Internships

This is an exciting opportunity for promising undergraduates to experience research in applied health research methodology. The aim of the scheme is to encourage people to consider a career as a health research methodologist.

Nine funded internships are available across a range of methodological disciplines. There are 15 projects to choose from, available in biostatistics, evidence synthesis, health economics, qualitative research and more. Each project will involve experiencing working for two months as part of a vibrant research group and conducting a research project under the supervision of a supportive team of supervisors. There will also be opportunities to hear about careers in applied health research and to present your work.

The internships are supported by NHIP Academy, which aims to unlock career development opportunities for the next generation of research methodologists.

The internships require individuals who are considering a career in health research, who are curious and keen to make the most of this opportunity. In your covering letter, please provide a statement of up to 400 words about how this internship would play a role in your future career. Applications that do not cover this are unlikely to be successful.

Unfortunately, due to the short-term nature of these posts, visa sponsorship is not possible. Please confirm in your application that you have the right to work in the UK.

The post is full-time for two months, starting in July 2023. We will expect interns to be physically based in or nearby Newcastle – fully remote opportunities are not available, although hybrid work patterns are permitted.

The closing date for applications is 22 June 2023.
